본 연구는 초심상담자들의 불확실성에 대한 인내력 부족이 사회비교경향성과 초심상담자 어려움을 매개하여 진로불안에 영향을 미치는 과정을 탐색하였다. 상담 경력 3년 이내의 상담자를 대상으로 온라인 설문을 진행하였으며, 총 204명의 초심상담자들이 설문에 참여하였다. SPSS Process Macro를 사용한 이중매개모형 분석 결과에 따르면, 불확실성에 대한 인내력 부족과 진로불안과의 관계에서 사회비교경향성의 매개효과와 초심상담자 어려움의 매개효과가 각각 유의미하게 나타났다. 즉 불확실성에 대한 인내력이 부족할수록 사회비교를 많이 하고 진로불안이 높아지는 것을 알 수 있었다. 또한 불확실성에 대한 인내력이 부족할수록 초심상담자 어려움이 높아지고 진로불안도 증가하는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 마지막으로 불확실성에 대한 인내력 부족과 진로불안과의 관계에서 사회비교경향성과 초심상담자 어려움의 순차적 이중매개효과가 유의미하게 나타났다. 초심상담자의 불확실성에 대한 인내력 부족은 사회비교경향성을 높이고, 높은 사회비교경향성은 초심상담자의 어려움을 증가시켰으며 이는 결과적으로 진로불안을 더 크게 경험하게 하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과를 바탕으로 초심상담자들이 경험하는 진로불안을 감소시키기 위한 방안들을 제시하였고, 본 연구의 제한점과 후속 연구를 위한 제언을 논하였다.
This study investigated the influence of intolerance of uncertainty on career anxiety, and the mediating role of social comparison tendency and novice counselors’ difficulty experienced in counseling. An online survey was conducted with counselors who had fewer than three years of counseling experience. A sample of 204 counselors completed self-report questionnaires. The double mediation model was used to examine the relationships among variables. The analysis indicated that the mediating effect of both social comparison tendency and novice counselors’ difficulty was significant in the relation between intolerance of uncertainty and career anxiety. The results also indicated that social comparison tendency and novice counselors’ difficulty had a significant sequential mediating effect between intolerance of uncertainty and career anxiety. Based on the findings, several strategies to decrease novice counselors’ career anxiety are proposed, and study limitations and suggestions for future research are discussed.
