본 연구에서는 한국판 수줍음 척도의 타당화 작업을 진행하였다. 만 18세 이상 69세 이하 성인을 대상으로 온라인 설문을 수행하였으며, 320명의 자료를 바탕으로 내적 일치도, 요인 구조, 수렴 및 동시 타당도를 확인하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 탐색적 요인 분석 결과, 한국판 수줍음 척도는 총 7문항의 2요인(상황적 수줍음, 보편적 수줍음) 구조로 분류되었다. 확인적 요인 분석 결과, 해당 요인 구조가 적합한 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 척도의 내적 일치도가 높게 나타났으며, 관련 변인인 사회불안, 수줍음, 수치심, 죄책감을 측정하는 척도들과의 동시/수렴 타당도가 유의하게 나타났다. 대표적인 문화 심리적 변인인 자기관 척도와의 관련성을 살펴보았을 때, 대상성 자기와는 유의한 정적 상관, 주체성 자기와는 유의한 부적 상관을 보이고, 자율성 자기와는 유의한 상관을 보이지 않는 결과가 도출되어 선행연구를 지지함으로써 전반적인 타당도 수준이 양호한 것으로 확인되었다. 이러한 결과는 수줍음을 대상으로 한 연구의 타당성과 신뢰성을 높이고, 수줍음의 구성 개념을 이해하는 데 도움이 될 수 있을 것으로 생각된다. 추후 연구에서는 척도의 역채점 문항에 대한 타당성을 검증하고, 수줍음의 문화적 특성을 구체적으로 확인하는 작업이 필요할 것이다.
The purpose of this study was to validate the Korean version of the Revised Cheek-Buss Shyness scale, which measures the shyness of individuals. A total of 320 online panels were recruited. We conducted exploratory factor analysis (EFA) on half of the randomly selected data and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) on the remaining half. According to the EFA results, the K-RCBS had a 7-item two-factor (circumscribed shyness, general shyness) structure. As a result of CFA, the two-factor model showed a suitable model fit. The K-RCBS had good reliability validity and adequate convergent/concurrent validity. The findings suggested that the K-RCBS could contribute to identifying the structure of shyness and enhance the reliability and validity of research on shyness. Future research will need to confirm the validity of the inverse scoring item of the K-RCBS and identify the cultural characteristics of shyness.
