The purpose of this study is to understand the effect of people who have heard of ‘reading aloud’ on the formation of reading satisfaction and reading attitude, and to obtain implications for the library book reading service. To this end, a survey was conducted on 439 people of various age groups. The results are as follows. First, there was a difference in value perception and satisfaction with reading books by age group, and there was no difference in reading attitude. Second, the satisfaction of the respondents who answered that the value of reading books was efficacy and feeling loved was positive, and the satisfaction of the respondents who answered that they were comfortable was lower than this. Third, the more positive the satisfaction level was, the more positive the reading attitude was. Fourth, respondents who participate in reading groups for children were found to have a high value perception of trust relationships and more experience in reading books, and the more experience they have in reading, the more they are affected by the behavioral aspect of reading attitude. Therefore, librarians (teachers) need to support the improvement of reading attitudes by actively operating reading groups for parents while planning programs that take into account value recognition types and satisfaction by age group.

It is generally accepted that cultural capital is constructed through cultural environments that facilitate the cultural activities of individuals. Although public libraries foster the cultural environment and support various cultural activities, there is controversy about whether public libraries still affect the formation of cultural capital in the current evolved cultural environment. This research empirically verified the roles of public libraries in the formation of cultural capital by conducting a survey targeting public library users. As a result, public libraries as cultural institutions play an important role in providing opportunities to access and utilize cultural resources and to experience various cultural activities, which are connected to the formation of different types of cultural capital. In addition, public libraries function to close the cultural divide and social disparities by providing equal opportunities to construct cultural capital for community members.
This paper suggests a way to improve Korean diaspora-related subject headings based on the analysis of terminology about Koreans in Korean diaspora-related manuscripts and investigation of related terms in the National Library of Korea subject headings. After selecting three KCI journals with high ratios of diaspora-related papers, the study extracted Korean-related terminology from the journal papers and examined their term frequencies. Additional Korean-related terms were investigated by manually reviewing the articles in which extracted terms appear. Based on these analyses, the study proposes several supplemental enhancements to Korean-related topic names in the National Library of Korea’s subject headings, such as changing the English notation, adding non-preferred words, and changing the hierarchical relationship of the existing topic names.

This study aims to examine the current status of managing elementary school libraries in Busan and suggest the ways to improve it with the viewpoint of ‘the five laws of library science’. The scope of study was set as the elementary school libraries in Busan, and the operation status of 304 elementary school libraries was analyzed. And for in-depth investigation, D elementary school library was examined as a case. The operation status of elementary school libraries in Busan was analyzed with the analysis elements; existence of school library, placement of teacher librarian, library collection, annual use, budget, and library seats for 6 years from 2016 to 2021. As a result, especially the placement rate of full-time teacher librarians was only 10.5%, indicating that the problem of manpower shortage was serious. As case study, the current state of managing D elementary school library was deeply investigated with perspectives of the first law and the third law of library science among Ranganathan’s five laws of library science. With the first law, the investigation was divided into the aspects of open-shelf system, library location, library hours, furniture, and staff. With the third law, the investigation was done as the aspects of shelf arrangement, catalog, extended service, book selection. Especially, books with more than 50 copies for the program of reading one book each semester accounted for 4.8% of the total collection, showing the problem of unbalanced collection. As the result of this study, ‘expanding the placement of teacher librarians’, ‘making better reading environment through remodeling’, and ‘balanced collection development’ were suggested as the ways of developing school libraries.
Niklas Luhmann is a sociologist who has had a strong influence on other disciplines. Therefore, it is necessary to examine what Luhmann’s theory has influenced on his subsequent researchers. This study analyzed the knowledge network of studies on Niklas Luhmann’s theory by follow-up researchers. Bibliographic coupling and co-citation were used as the analysis method of knowledge network. The main results are as follows. First, the language clusters were divided into Latin American / Spanish-speaking regions, Western Europe / Anglo-American regions, Eastern / Northern Europe and other language regions through bibliographic coupling analysis. Second, from the node analysis of bibliographic coupling, It was divided into 2 main cases: where Luhmann’s major works were cited; where Luhmann’s minor works were cited. Third, it was found that there are the core work groups that are repeatedly cited among Luhmann’s works. Fourth, 12 core works were derived from the node analysis of the co-citation network, and appeared in four groups according to themes.

Second, in order to increase the reading amount of extraversion, it is necessary to conduct dynamic reading activities in the center of the activity and conduct a local reading club activity linked to community activities.
The understanding and capability to utilize artificial intelligence (AI) incorporated technology has become a required basic skillset for the people living in today’s information age, and various members of the university have also increasingly become aware of the need for AI education. Amidst such shifting societal demands, both domestic and international university libraries have recognized the users’ need for educational content centered on AI, but a user-centered service that aims to provide personalized recommendations of digital AI educational content is yet to become available. It is critical while the demand for AI education amongst university students is progressively growing that university libraries acquire a clear understanding of user intention towards an AI educational content recommender system and the potential factors contributing to its success. This study intended to ascertain the factors affecting acceptance of such system, using the Extended Technology Acceptance Model with added variables - innovativeness, self-efficacy, social influence, system quality and task-technology fit - in addition to perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and intention to use. Quantitative research was conducted via online research surveys for university students, and quantitative research was conducted through written interviews of university librarians. Results show that all groups, regardless of gender, year, or major, have the intention to use the AI-related Educational Content Recommendation System, with the task suitability factor being the most dominant variant to affect use intention. University librarians have also expressed agreement about the necessity of the recommendation system, and presented budget and content quality issues as realistic restrictions of the aforementioned system.
In the library catalog, the scalability of information acquisition can be guaranteed by expressing various relationships existing between resources. Such a bibliographical relationship can be realized through the authority record. Therefore, the revision of KORMARC Format for Authority Data , the national standard for authority records, is inevitably important. Therefore, for the revision of KORMARC Format for Authority Data , (1) the latest international cataloging trends were analyzed, (2) the opinions of librarians were collected, (3) internal guidelines used for authority work were analyzed, and (4) latest version of MARC21 were analyzed. In addition, for the continuous revision of KORMARC Format for Authority Data , the revision procedure of MARC21 was investigated to draw implications for the KORMARC revision method. Data was collected and utilized through literature reviews, MARC21 analysis, interviews with professors and librarians.
This study aims to increase understanding of current status and changes of academic libraries in South Korea in comparison with those of academic libraries in North America and United Kingdom (UK). The five-year statistics of academic libraries were collected from Korea Education and Research Information Service (KERIS), Association of Research Libraries (ARL), and Society of College, National and University Libraries (SCONUL), and the authors compared the statistical indicators that are comparable to each other. The circumstance and performance of academic libraries in North America were much better than those of South Korea. In addition, the area of library buildings in South Korea was larger than those in UK, and they also had more books and carrels than UK libraries; however, UK libraries had more library staffs, expenditure on material purchase, and interlibrary loan requests. These findings imply that there should be more support on academic libraries in South Korea to increase library staffs and budget, which will invigorate library services and use.
