Abstract

The record is both an palmistry and a fingerprint for human life and world of knowledge. Books, which are synonymous with records, are a channel through which history is traced and a window to savor. And the most primitive form of the book is the classics of ancient Greece and Rome, and the best part is the manuscript. It refers to the original recorded on papyrus, parchment, paper, etc. and the translated and translated copies of them. If we reflect on the long history of knowledge and culture, the classic manuscripts have continued to scatter and collect like a river flowing through time and space due to not only natural disasters, but also artificial cultural vandalism and the bibliocaust. Therefore, this study traced and linked the wandering and library return of classic manuscripts from ancient Greece to the medieval Renaissance period. As a result, dynasties and empires, monarchs and prime ministers, generals and conquerors, nobles and wealthy, clergy and scholars concentrated on collecting and translating classical manuscripts. If the ancient Greek and Roman scholars did not record knowledge and wisdom in papyrus and parchment, the medieval Byzantine and Islamic Empires did not collect, translate and reproduce classics, the book hunters didn't keep track of the classics, the Renaissance humanists did not restore and reinterpret the classics through intellectual exodus, and the historical library did not collect and preserve the classics and their translations, modern people would not have access to classical knowledge. Nevertheless, the tracing of classical manuscripts is an aporia in which many difficulties and contradictions overlap in the tracing of classic manuscripts due to historical flow, geographical wandering, and linguistic transformation. When a new manuscript is discovered and interpreted, correction and supplementation are inevitable, so the pursuit of the wandering and return of the classic manuscripts through follow-up research must be continued.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine how the content components of information literacy textbooks develop and is to find implications for improving of textbook publication. Three kinds of information literacy textbooks were published sequentially over time. The content components of 「Information and media」(1996) and 「Library and information skills」(2011) are processed by filament structure and 「Information and library」(2002) has a topic-driven project activity. Generally, a small lesson unit of the textbook consisted of three components (learning goals, learning contents, learning activities) and each component in the unit have to make semantic close relationships. However, in some information literacy textbooks, there are cases that the semantic relationship between goals, contents, and activities are cut off. This disconnection cases can be a fatal drawback for the reliability of textbooks, so sufficient attention is needed to develop information literacy textbooks later.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the performance of the Gyeonggi province book sharing regular delivery project for pre-schoolers in 2021, analyze the problems of the project, and suggest improvement measures to help the preparation of policies for the promotion of reading culture in Gyeonggi province. As a result of the survey, the necessity and satisfaction of the project were found to be very high for both the caregivers and the reading coaches. In particular, in the case of caregivers, the higher the amount of reading after the project, the higher the need for and satisfaction with the project. It was found that they wanted to participate in programs such as regular book delivery. Even in the convergence of expert opinions, it was evaluated that there was a positive change in the perception of parenting by reading by caregivers, and that the necessity and satisfaction of this project were very high due to the development of infant-parent interaction. However, in the self-evaluation of the project manager and the implementing organization, it was evaluated that better results could be achieved only when the project was carried out through thorough planning and preparation in advance. Through this, for the continuity of Gyeonggi province regular delivery of children’s book packages, improvement plans were presented and Gyeonggi-do’s reading culture promotion policy was proposed.

Abstract

In 2000, North Korea developed and published a two-volume, <Classification-Search Term Dictionary> and is currently used throughout North Korea. The purpose of this study is to examine the development process of the classification schemes of the North Korea after liberation and to understand the contents, composition, and principles of the <Classification-Search Term Dictionary> published in 2000 and revised in 2014. Until now, all the studies of the North Korean classification schemes were studies on the <Book Classification Scheme> published in North Korea in 1964, and there has been no discussion on North Korea’s classification schemes since then. The first volume of the <Classification-Search Term Dictionary> consists of ‘classification symbols—search terms’, and the second volume consists of ‘search terms—classification symbols’. Volume 1 is based on the <Books and Bibliography Classification Scheme (1996)>, and there are a total of 41 main classes in five categories. Volume 1 allocates 1 main class (11/19) to ‘revolutionary ideas and theories’, 8 main classes (20~27) to ‘natural sciences’, 19 main classes (30~69) to ‘engineering technology and applied sciences’, 12 main classes (70~85) to ‘social sciences’, and 1 main class (90) to ‘total sciences’. Volume 2 is similar to subject-headings. North Korea’s <Classification-Search Term Dictionary> is the first classification scheme introduced in South Korea and is expected to be the starting point for future studies on the establishment of the standard unification classification schemes.

Abstract

Altmetrics is an alternative impact evaluation index that evaluates the social interest in the research performance of individuals or institutions in universities, research institutions, and research fund support institutions. This study empirically analyzed what kind of attention a papers of domestic library and information science researchers published in an international academic journal was receiving in the international community using Altmetric explorer. As a result of the analysis, 230 papers were tracked. The average Altmetric Attention Score (AAS) was 6.63, but there were 2 papers that received overwhelming attention (over 170 points) as they were mentioned in news report and Twitter. Second, there was a tendency for high AAS to appear in cases where a domestic researcher participated as a co-author and the main author belonged to an overseas institution, and in the case where the research funds were supported by foreign government agencies. In addition to the field of the library information science or information system, the papers classified as the field of public health service and education showed high AAS, and it was confirmed that these papers were published in the journals of various fields such as life science. Finally, it was confirmed that there was a weak correlation of r=0.25 between the AAS and the number of citations of the analyzed paper, but a strong correlation of r=0.68 between the number of Mendeley readers and the number of citations.

Abstract

Research performance evaluation has been based heavily on quantitative criteria. Various limitations however were revealed and the demand for excellence in research quality was growing and the importance of qualitative evaluation factors was increasing as well. The study investigates and introduces cases for improving research evaluation that have appeared around the world since 2010. To extract qualitative factors that can be introduced in research achievement evaluation in Korea this study investigated and organized the performance evaluation cases of foreign universities and proposed the introduction of the evaluation method in Korea. Qualitative evaluation factors were extracted by analyzing achievement evaluation documents evaluation procedures and evaluation standards of top 10 universities around the world. As a results this study proposes the use of various performance evaluation documents mulch-faceted evaluation and multi-level performance evaluation process and various qualitative performance evaluation standards. In traditional bibliometrics, while the degree of citation was measured when generating research evaluation indicators, future indicators may reflect recommendation scores as indicators, or include industrial connectivity and utilization in education/industry. It is hoped that the performance evaluation method will be balanced through this paper and ultimately the professor’s research achievement evaluation will be a process that can help individuals grow into excellent researchers and develop the research environment.
