Analysis of Children's Services and Children's Librarian Jobs in Domestic and Foreign Libraries

Abstract

This paper is a preliminary study to develop the standard job model for strengthening children services in Korean public libraries. To do so, the researchers reviewed and analysed the current status, features, and job of children's services of sample public libraries in the United States, United Kingdom, Japan, and Korea. As a result, library management, development and preservation of childrens' materials, technical services and database management, public services, program services related to book and reading, cooperation activities with the relevant agencies and facilities revealed as a key job of children's librarian. Based on these results, subsequent research will be to develop a standard job model for children's services of public library in Korea.
