A Study on the Application Status of RDA and Librarians’ Perceptions in University Libraries in Korea

Abstract

The study aims to investigate the perception of RDA by domestic university library librarians, the current status and plan of RDA application in university libraries, and propose considerations for establishing RDA in domestic university libraries. Through literature review, questionnaire items were prepared to investigate librarians’ perception of RDA and the status of RDA in university libraries, and the application status of cataloging rules and education status of cataloging rules in Korea were investigated. Based on the results of the survey, the conversion of the cataloging rules from AACR2 to RDA requires expansion of RDA education and development of curriculum for librarians, and efforts and support such as preparing RDA format and application guidelines at the library level. At the level of national institutions such as the National Library of Korea, implications such as the necessity of enacting RDA application guidelines were presented.
