Abstract

In this study, the direction and contents of public education to develop competencies that are in line with the 2022 revised curriculum and the paradigm of future education were sought, and a plan for reading education was prepared. A creative and cooperative problem-solving method and process as not only information literacy ability to read, select, and reconstruct information but also transformative competency to respond to uncertain future and diversified situations are important amid the complex, pluralistic and rapid development of information and communication technology It was intended to give an experience of exploring and communicating through reading in order to explore and derive it. Analyze the general outline and syllabus of the curriculum, international education project definitions and indicators, and organize academic theories and research to set the direction and goal of high school reading education, and organize creative and convergence class strategies and reading activities A library reading class model was developed. Accordingly, the class model was revised by applying the development research method, and the final model was developed by supplementing it through field application evaluation. In order to achieve the research purpose end, a two-round Delphi survey was conducted on 10 reading education and curriculum experts. The model modified through the Delphi survey was developed in the final school library convergence reading class model by demonstrating the class in the educational field and supplementing it through application evaluation.

Abstract

As altmetrics has received a lot of attention as an muti-dimensional impact assessment tool, it is necessary to verify whether it can supplement the citation-based research performance evaluation system. This study analyzed and compared the effects of each altmetrics sources on citation by sampling 1,600 high-cited papers published in the last 10 years (Sample A) and non-year-limited papers (Sample B) indexed in Scopus. In addition, it was analyzed whether the OA of the paper had a moderating effect on the numbers of cited-by, and the difference according to the samples was verified. As a result of the analysis, only the number of Mendeley bookmark readers was analyzed to have a positive (+) effect on the numbers of cited-by, and OA status had a significant moderating effect in both groups. However, in sample A, OA showed a reinforcing effect on cited-by, whereas Sample B showed a weakening effect, showing a difference. On the other hand, social mention such as media reports do not have a significant effect on the cited-by regardless of OA conditions, but they can be used to understand the social impact of non-academic mass readers.

Abstract

Today, despite the increase in professional knowledge-related information needs of citizens, the expansion of citizen participatory research in academia, and the provision of information services for the professional knowledge, there are still difficulties in access to scholarly information resources by laypeople. Focusing on this problem, this study investigates laypeople’s scholarly information needs and behaviors through a questionnaire survey. By examining the search and use behaviors of scholarly information resources, and the perception of the need to support the utilization of them, this study analyzes the degree and pattern of social sharing of scholarly information resources beyond the scholarly community. This study is significant in that it expands the range of users in traditional scholarly communication and emphasizes the need to support them to access and use scholarly information resources.

Abstract

The local bookstore direct loan service for users’ requests in public libraries, which was launched in Gyeonggi Province, is a creative new service that has led to the revitalization of the local economy through the rise in sales of local bookstores and high user satisfaction. However, it is a service in which positive and negative reactions coexist as negative opinions are presented on the deterioration of the quality of public library books due to overlapping needs for desired books by users. Therefore, several ways of improving for local bookstore loan service in public libraries through a survey of public libraries, local bookstores, and users were suggested in this study. The local bookstore direct loan service for users’ requests, which is a creative cooperation plan between public libraries and local bookstores, needs to constantly improve its services by increasing book purchase cost, organizing a steering committee for continuous communication and collecting plans through research on the book purchase cost. Also, it is necessary to improve its services by enacting regulations expanding reading culture services expanding the number of healthy users and fostering various local bookstores.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to explore tasks for improving performance skills by comparing and analyzing the current status of reading marathon competitions operated in public libraries, and to provide guidelines for institutions to operating of this competition in the future. In order to achieve the research purpose, the competition status information collected in 2021 for five public libraries operating reading marathon competitions from before the COVID-19 pandemic were collected and the contents were compared and analyzed. As a result, the average period for five public libraries running a reading marathon was 10 years, and the average period for each year was 5.87 months. In addition, children had the highest rate of completion, and as compensation for completion, certificates were issued and the number of loans increased the most. However, the competition managers complained of difficulties in securing and increasing applicants and calculating the distance reached, so based on the analysis, they developed tasks to improve the performance of the reading marathon from several different solution suggestions.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop the indicatives for the analysis of the effects of Gyeonggi-do Book Sharing Project on pre-schoolers of supporter’ reading care and thereby, suggest some data useful to the establishment of a reading culture promotion policy in Gyeonggi-do. Preceding studies and cases were reviewed to analyze the effects of the book-sharing project on pre-schoolers of supporter’ reading care and thereby, develop some measurement indicatives, and thus, the indicatives were verified by professionals using the Delphi technique. Then, supporter of 3~5 year-old pre-schoolers were sampled from 7 cities and counties in Gyeonggi-do (Pocheon-si, Yangpyeong-gun, Yeoju-si, Dongducheon-si, Gapyeong-gun, Yeoncheon-gun and Yangju-si) to be divided into control and test groups and thereby, their reading care effect indicatives were compared before and after the test. The theoretical background is theory of family literacy, emergent literacy and parenting efficacy. As a result of developing the indicatives for analysis of pre-schoolers of supporter’s reading care effects and comparing them for the sample pre-schoolers of supporter, before and after the test, the book-sharing project was found effective in improving reading care. The most difficult problem in pre-schoolers’ earlier reading education involves acquisition of reading habit. So, it is deemed necessary to operate a regular book sharing project involving public organization and homes. As a result of developing the indicatives and analyzing the effects of the book-sharing project, it was confirmed that the project would serve to improve pre-schoolers of support’s reading care and therefore, this study seems to provide some ground for the operation of a sustainable book-sharing project to narrow the education divide and promote a book reading culture in Gyeonggi-do.

Abstract

This study, in relation to the decision to designate April 12 as the Library Day and the week from that day as the Library Week starting in 2023 in accordance with the amendment of the Libraries Act, suggests ways how the Library Week could be activation plan based on the analysis of the meaning and history of the Library Week which started in 1964 and cases of the use of library week at home and abroad. The uses of library week at home and abroad were analyzed and based on the implications drawn, suggestions for promoting the Library Week, were made in terms of three aspects - efficient methods for using the Library Week, changes in programs, diversification of promotional strategies. This paper suggests in order to promote the Library Week, various ways of running events, online and offline platforms, honorary ambassadors, unique commemorative events, national campaigns, archiving and all-year-round promotional channels and system are needed. This study could be used as a reference for promoting the Library Day and Library Week that will start in 2023.

Abstract

This study was performed in order to find implications for further activating the reading discussion program by conducting a Havruta-based reading discussion program for elementary school students in the library, by measuring and analyzing the effect on the participants. The results of the study are as follows: First, as a result of comparative analysis between the pre- and post-scores on the effectiveness of the Havruta reading discussion program, it was found that the average score of the post-test was high. Second, as a result of analyzing the differences in the changes in the results of the pre-survey compared to the post-survey according to the general characteristics of the participants, it was found that there were significant differences in the characteristics of ‘interest in reading’ for the ‘critical thinking ability’ factor, the characteristics of ‘average monthly reading capacity’ for the ‘critical thinking ability’ factor, the characteristics of ‘academic performance’ for the ‘research ability’ factor, and the characteristics of ‘gender’, ‘academic performance’, and ‘interest in reading’ for the ‘persuasive ability’ factor. Third, as a result of analyzing how the effects of the Havruta reading discussion program are affected by the constituent factors of reading and discussion ability, it was found that the factors ‘critical reading ability’ and ‘critical thinking ability’ had an effect. As a result, it was identified that there are effects and advantages of the Havruta-based reading discussion program in the library.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the data repository certification scheme and to propose a strategy to promote Coretrustseal certification. The certification system to be analyzed includes Coretrustseal, RatSWD, CLARIN certificate B, DIN 31644, ISO 16363, TDR and nestor. Among them, Coretrustseal certification is a core certification system that meets the standards and requirements of other certifications. Therefore, in this study, the Coretrustseal certification promotion strategy was proposed step by step. The proposed certification promotion strategy includes a list of research data policies and guidelines and examples of certification applications for use by institutions that operate domestic data repositories. Through this CTS certification process, each institution can secure research data policies and guidelines, and when CTS certification is obtained, it is judged that international reliability of the data repository can be secured.

Abstract

Industrial heritage resources produced by industrial activities have historical and conservative values and value as cultural properties as they serve as a medium connecting the past, present, and future. In other words, Industrial heritage resources should be used, managed, and preserved simultaneously as important records and evidence for the future. Metadata is well known as a necessary and important factor for the use, management, and preservation of information resources. In particular, in order to describe various industrial heritage resources that have historical, cultural, and conservative values, metadata elements from various perspectives are needed to relate to the story, type etc. of data. Therefore, this study attempted to design metadata elements that can comprehensively describe different types of industrial heritage resources. And we designed metadata that suited for the purpose of using, managing, and preserving industrial heritage resources, through mapping and combination between industrial heritage-related metadata. As a result, metadata was grouped into five types(administrative, descriptive, preservation, technical, use) and prepared into a total of 25 higher & 86 lower elements.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the names of public libraries in Korea to reveal the problems of naming and suggest alternatives of naming. As of the end of 2020, 937 out of 1,172 public libraries, excluding 235 libraries of the Provincial & Municipal Education Offices, were divided into three groups by library service target and operating organization, and each library name was analyzed. The study reveals that there were 8 basic types and 31 detailed types of local library names, and 5 basic types and 18 detailed types of children’s and youth libraries. In the case of private libraries, it was found that there are 5 types of names. The study also reveals that there are several problems in naming, such as the use of two or three place names in one name, the use of unnecessary modifiers, and the indication of library founder and grade.

Abstract

This study was conducted to find a task to adjust the conflict situation by categorizing and analyzing the recent cases of library book censorship and analyzing the field perception on the subject of library book censorship. Therefore, recent cases of book censorship were categorized into four categories: political, legal, sexuality, and sex crime. As a result of the study, 44.5% of the respondents who answered that the restriction on access to books related to sex crimes was not a library censorship or that it was difficult to judge. It showed the perception that this issue is not an issue that can be easily decided by book censorship. Meanwhile, as a result of a survey of librarians, there was an opinion that there was a need for restrictions on collecting or reading at the library site for various reasons, and eventually showed a gap from the code of ethics for librarians against all censorship, showing the need to make efforts to reconcile such conflicts in the future.
