This study deals with the user task that is the goal of development of RDA(Resource Description & Access), an international standard for future bibliographic description. RDA seeks to implement the user task based on FRBR-FRAD model. User task could be composed of two areas: (1) find, identify, select, and obtain of bibliographic resources in information seeking and (2) find, identify, clarify, and understand of entities related to resources (i.e., person, family, corporate, concept, etc.). This research analyzes how the resource is defined with entity, attributes, and relationship in RDA based on the conceptual model of FRBR- FRAD. And this finally shows the ways of supporting user task in RDA.
The purpose of this study is to examine the possibility of using the WorldCat, an International Union Catalog operated by OCLC as a tool for analyzing the trend of knowledge distribution in libraries around the world. In this study, four subject keywords, that is, Korea, Korean, Japan, and Japanese, were used to search materials related to Korea and Japan, and four facets, including medium, genre, language, and user level, were used to categorize search results from the WorldCat. The result shows that information resources related to Korea held by libraries around the world are only a little more than a third of Japan-related information resources. Especially Korea-related information resources for juveniles are less in numbers and lack in diversity in languages, media and genres, when compared with Japan-related information resources. Also an examination of two bibliographic records demonstrates that viewpoints expressed in user contributed reviews might affect diffusion of knowledge on certain subjects in the Next Generation Library Catalog.
The primary questions addressed by this research are the followings: Have the OPAC interfaces of children's libraries been designed user-friendly; What difficulties have OPAC searchers experienced in using OPACs; How do they perceive the system after searching it; Through the answers of those questions the problems of OPACs for children as searching tools have been grasped and recommendations have been suggested in order to improve the OPAC interfaces. An experiment was conducted and 28 children of grades 4 to 6 performed 5 searching tasks. The searching behavior of OPAC searchers has been analyzed thoroughly. The data of their perceptions about the system was collected through a questionnaire after completing the tasks.
The purpose of this study is to derive implications of the management evaluation results for the Korean 699 public libraries during the year of 2010. The 'collection management' area(65.8%) and 'strategic management plan' area(60.8%) showed high performance rates compared to the average rates of the entire areas(56.6%). On the other hand, the 'cooperation with other libraries' area(41.8%) and 'cooperation with other communities' area(48.5%) showed relatively low performance rates compared to the average rates of the other areas. The information that has been created according to the complex environment and usage pattern of library user can provide context-aware information service through knowledge structuralization on whether it is a suitable situation for user. Accordingly, the development of a context model for defining the various contexts of library user and for the structuralization of interrelated context information is an essential requirement. This study examined the context concept and context modeling, and utilizing the concept of Activity Theory by Engestrom, the activity model of library user was designed as 1) subject, 2) object, 3) tools, 4) divison of labor, 5) community, and 6) rules. In addition, for the purpose of analyzing the context of library user, activity information was tracked to utilize the Shadow Tracking for observing and recording their forms, and the methodology of CAbAT (Context Analysis based on Activity Theory) was utilized for the collected activity information to analyze the user context model.

This article analyzes the costs and benefits of the seven individuals centers of Foreign Research Information Center. Results of the investment feasibility analysis based on 30 years time span show that 0.99 of BCR (Benefit-Cost Ratio), 5.49% of IRR (Internal Rate of Return), and -507 million Won of NPV (Net Present Value). Sensibility analysis suggests that BCR can be influenced by the journal usage, social rate of discount, and elimination of the duplicate journal among individual centers.
