본 연구의 목적은 직업상담을 통해 자신의 진로를 결정하게 된 청년구직자들이 진로결정과정에서 겪는 경험을 이해하고, 이에 관한 이론적 틀을 제시하는 데 있다. 연구대상은 고용센터에서 직업상담을 받았던 24~35세의 남녀 청년 중, 자신의 진로를 결정한 10인이었으며, 상담회기는 평균 5.9회 이내였다. 연구방법은 근거이론적 방법(Strauss & Corbin, 1998)을 적용하여 자료를 분석하였다. 연구결과는 첫째, 10개의 상위범주, 19개의 하위범주, 62개의 개념이 도출되었다. 둘째, 청년구직자들의 진로결정과정에 대하여 도출된 패러다임은 진로방향의 상실을 중심현상으로 하며, 반복되는 취업노력실패를 인과적 상황으로, 구직과정에서의 4가지 어려움을 맥락적 상황으로 하였다. 연구의 중심현상은 직업상담을 통한 인식변화경험을 중재조건으로 하고, 개인내적 변화와 구직행동변화를 작용/상호작용으로 하여, 진로결정이라는 결과가 나타났다. 셋째, 청년구직자들의 진로결정에 대한 과정모형은 혼란과 유예, 인식과 수용, 유지와 저항, 시도와 도전, 선택과 실행의 다섯 단계로 나타났다. 넷째, 이야기윤곽을 통한 핵심범주는 진로인식의 변화와 새로운 도전으로 나타났다. 이 연구는 청년구직자들이 실제로 구직과정에서 어떠한 경험을 하는지 제시하고, 진로결정시에 직업상담을 통한 인식의 전환경험과 새로운 구직활동을 통해 진로결정을 이루어지는 과정을 밝혔다는 점에서 그 의의가 있다.
The objective of this study was to examine job-seeking young adults’ experiences about career determination processes during career counseling. Ten young adults were interviewed, who were in a job searching and received 4 to 7 (M=5.9) sessions of career counseling. The grounded theory (Strauss & Corbin, 1998) was employed to analyzed their interviews. The analysis showed that there were 10 categories, 19 subcategories, and 62 conceptions. As a result, the central phenomenon was drawn a disorientation on career path in the paradigm. Given the paradigm model, interviewees were assumed to experience the five stages in a career determination process: more specifically, confusion & delay, realization & accept, upkeep & resistance, attempt & challenge, and choice & action. The current study contributed in understanding job-seeking young adults and their career determination process through career counseling.
