본 연구에서는 장애아 어머니의 거시적 의미, 장애자녀 양육과 관련되어 부여하는 상황적 의미 및 대처방식이 어머니의 심리적 안녕감과 돌봄 만족에 미치는 영향에 대해 살펴보았다. 부산과 창원 지역의 장애아 어머니 180명을 대상으로 장애아 어머니의 거시적 의미와 상황적 의미, 대처방식, 심리적 안녕감과 돌봄 만족도를 측정하여 변인간의 상관관계 분석과 중다회귀 분석을 실시하였다. 분석 결과, 장애아 어머니의 세상에 대한 일반적 신념인 거시적 의미가 긍정적일수록 장애자녀의 출산과 양육에 관한 상황을 더 긍정적으로 해석하며, 장애상황에 대해 긍정적으로 대처하는 것으로 나타났다. 중다회귀분석 결과, 의미중심대처는 어머니의 심리적 안녕감과 돌봄 만족에 공통적으로 가장 큰 영향을 주는 변인으로 확인되었다. 거시적 의미 중 자기가치감과 일부 상황적 의미가 어머니의 심리적 안녕감에 영향을 주는 것으로 나타난 반면 돌봄 만족에는 상황에 부여하는 긍정적 의미만 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 경로분석 결과, 어머니가 장애상황에 부여하는 상황적 의미는 의미중심대처를 통해 어머니의 심리적 안녕감에 간접적으로 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타난 반면 돌봄 만족에는 직접적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타나 어머니의 심리적 안녕감과 돌봄 만족에 영향을 미치는 변인들에서 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다.
This study examined relations of mothers’ global and situational meaning about their disabled child and coping strategies with psychological well-being and care satisfaction. Participants of this study were 180 mothers caring disabled child. The results were as follows: Current study showed that mothers’ positive global meaning had a direct effect on mothers’ positive situational meaning and meaning-focused coping strategies. Secondly, this study found that mothers’ positive situational meaning about their disabled child partially mediated the relation between global meaning and coping strategies. Additionally, mothers’ positive situational meaning about their disabled child exhibited a direct effect on their care satisfactions but not on their psychological well-being. This study implies that it is very important for mothers who care a disabled child to have positive meanings about caring their child to cope actively the situation they meet.
