It is thought that the various PRs of public library are the PR within the jurisdiction, outside the jurisdiction, by print media, by audio-video media, by fixture, by event, by media outlet, by campaign, through cyber space, and through associated organization. But the strategy of PR from this study is followed. First, the team for PR should be organized. Second, the librarian for PR should be distributed. Third, the budget for PR should be raised. Forth, the organizations of community should be made the full use of for PR. Fifth, the media outlet of the community should be made the best use of. Sixth, the news letter published by public library should be utilized. Seventh, the internet homepage of public library should be made good use of.
The number of public libraries in Korea has been dramatically increased over the last 40 years, since the first Korean Libraries Act was passed in 1963. However, the public library infrastructure is still inadequate and there is a big difference between the number of public libraries in Korea and western countries. This result proves that Korea's method of enhancing its public library infrastructure has not been effective. Therefore, this study suggests the building of small, rather than large, public libraries as a more effective means of enhancing the public library infrastructure in Korea - the method adopted in Great Britain.
This research tries to find out the effect bibliotherapy has upon the stress of college students in the process of self-formation. Actually, bibliotherapy was carried out in the Library of S College for eight weeks and the stress college students undergo in the process of self-formation having been studied closely, a paired t-test has been carried out in order to compare the difference between the stress levels of the students after bibliotherapy and those before the therapy. The result shows that bibliotherapy had been notably effective in decreasing the students' stress in the process of self-formation. Therefore, it is suggested that college libraries need to inform their students of bibliotherapy and to develop various programs to promote it.
This study aims to suggest the ways to apply Information Commons to local university libraries, which face various changes in users and information environment, for using the libraries' space more effectively and for providing users with more satisfying services. Information Commons, which is a concept having been gradually spreading mainly in the U.S. from the early 1990's, is a service place where users can work out anything related to their studies or various lecture-related jobs because they are provided with various information and electronic resources in that one spot. Researches show that physical and human resources should be prepared before executing Information Commons to minimize the problems and to maximize the effectiveness from applying it. Physical resources are such as PC rooms, multimedia rooms, education rooms, one person or group study rooms, and cafe or lounge. Human resources are the librarians who can do reference services including giving the lectures on using library information resources and who can solve the operating problems related to IT.
This is to present the information and direction about color scheme image and adjective image in designing web page, by analysing the color image of our country's National University library's web page which is being operated now. The analysis method is to find the RGB of objective site through color emotion standard and to abstract the color chip. It is divided by color scheme image and adjective image. The scope of research is 41 National University libraries registered in National University Libraries Association. The result is that white and grey color of background and colors like light blue and green are main. In case of adjective image, nimble image and clear image was many. next is orderly bellowing image, and elegant image.
This study focused on the survey of academic high school students' information needs and their information seeking patterns. On the basis of its results, this study suggested school library services and programs. To do this, this study collected its data through survey and interviews. Specifically, this study discussed 1) the types of academic high school students' everyday concerns and the ways to deal with them, 2) the types and characteristics of their preferred information sources, 3) the school library services and programs for satisfying their information needs
This paper aims to analyze distribution structure of commercial Internet knowledge exchange markets. To that end, it has four specific study goals. First, define the type and volume of information available at the Internet knowledge exchange market as well as that of market users. Second, analyze distribution structure of the Internet knowledge exchange market. Third, identify current issues regarding infringement of intellectual property rights and conduct a survey to understand current standing of Internet knowledge exchange markets' IPR violation. Forth, assess application of Digital Rights Management(DRM) to Internet knowledge exchange markets and DRM’s role in controlling unauthorized copying and illegal uses.
In this study, the usefulness of the RFID technology, which has been recommended to be used in libraries, is reviewed by its technical aspect and the successful methods derived from RFID-applied libraries is presented to other libraries. More precisely, it is advised that checking out or returning books and materials, checking a collection of books, identifying misplaced materials, and theft- proofing materials, which have been previously performed using bar codes or the magnetic tapes, should be automated through RFID additionally the method to apply the technology to library's facilities or devices is proposed.
The purpose of this paper is to make understanding on the influence of school librarian on students' reading behavior. The Writer has collected and analysed data from 2,865 students in Daegu Metropolitan City according to statistical method and process. This study is to inquire into the publishing situation and developmental plans of korean magazine of Joseon people(Korean) in China. About twenty types of magazines for Joseon people(Korean) in China have been published since the liberation of China. These magazines have mainly brought changes such as publication suspensions, reissuing, and renaming in reflection of reading classes and political influence. Also, when classified by topic, the mainstream includes magazines of political, cultural, and art fields. On one hand, difficulties in magazine publication come from a decrease in the Korean Chinese population, population movements, support reduction and abolition from the Chinese government and increases in material costs. To overcome this, Korean reading classes should be secured and a magazine composed in two languages(Chinese-Korean) should be published to pioneer active cultural exchange in and out of China, and various forms of support should be devised from Korea.
The purpose of this study is to survey the reference information service participation to school library human resources, to compare the independent variables with reference information service participation, and to discern what the important impacts on the differences of reference information service participation are. The 254 questionaries used were collected from December 1, 2006 to December 31, 2006 to the 327 school library employees. In this study, it is proved that there are differences between the Reference Information Service Participation of school library human resources and independent variables: gender, the level of school library, length of service, employment style. Tips for the reference information service participation of school library human resources were provided based on inadequacies and other findings revealed through this study.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the distinctiveness and problem areas in cataloging rules of printed music. In this study, therefore, the characteristics, kinds, and cataloging rules related to a printed music are examined first as the backgrounds. Then the sources of information, title and general material designation, musical representation statement, publication․distribution․etc., physical description, notes, etc. in ISBD(PM), Chapter 5 Music of AACR2R 2002 Revision 2004 Update, and Chapter 5 Music of KCR4 are analyzed. And also printed music parts in Bibliographic Data of KORMARC and MARC21 are analyzed. Finally, the special issues and some problems to be considered in cataloging of printed music in KCR4 are presented.
The major concern of scholarly communication system that consists of libraries, researchers, and publishers is scholarly journals. But there is a huge chasm between the groups that have their own respects and strategies, compensations, and rights about scholarly journals. This difference makes open access movement which has two strategies : Open Access Journal(OAJ) and Open Access Archives(OAA). This paper describes the current status and analyses serious limitations of OAJ and OAA, especially, including the present address in the field of library and information science.
Adolescence is a critical period of mental disorder. A teacher, as a significant other, is an important social supporter for adolescents. The purpose of this study is to develop bibliotherapy programs for teachers as a school-based prevention program which helps improve the mental health of adolescents. Two programs are designed for teachers. One is for a teacher as an ordinary person in his/her daily life and the other is for a teacher as a significant other of adolescents.
This paper explores the elements of FRBR entities to create entities records from MARC records automatically. Attributes of entities analyzed and embodied in MARC records. FRBR records are cited as examples separately. And problems of applying FRBR model are suggested. The result of this paper is expected to keep up with the shift of cataloging's environment and influence system design.
For the public library reading revitalization in this study it is to review program development examples which is differentiated by own library from the existing reading education and reading program. Based on the specialized program examples it intended suggesting a method of reading revitalization, after reviewing enlarged specialized function in the existing public library function, and analyzing related the reading activity status concerning with Seoul city public library, ‘One Library One Book Reading' activity and U. S. A public library. Also, this study suggested future public library reading revitalization through the specialized quality service program development and construction related reading.
This research aims at the thorough analysis between the first edition and the revised of the International Standard Archival Authority Record for Corporate Bodies, Personal and Families. The focused methods of the study are comparing with each strength and weakness of the first edition and the revised on the needs and the features of archival authority control as well as how to use its description rule. Besides it looks into the elements to be added and complemented as they are made practical use of archives, hereafter when it is established Korean archival authority control rules, this fundamental research can be certainly valuable as its basic materials.
Sulwhaji(雪花紙, meaning “snow-white flower paper") had been originally manufactured before 16th century until after 19th century in Pyunggang, Korea, which represented the typical characteristics of traditional Korean paper. Since 17th century, however, it had been also made in Namwon, Sunchang, Jinju and so on. Its material was mulberry bark tree and was bleached beautifully white by using snow. It was highly qualified mainly used for painting, caligraphy, and book printing. That had been used in the Royal palace and as cherished gift for foreign envoys.
This study examined the demographic characteristics of the elderly who use public libraries in Daejoen Metropolitan City. Their tendencies in using the library, level of satisfaction about the library and how the library affects their life were also evaluated. The survey revealed there were more man than woman users. And most users being relatively healthy sixties, highly educated and belonging to the middle class were indicated. They have been using the library frequently and regularly for a long time and were highly satisfied with the services from librarians and other staffs. Also the public library services had a positive effect on the quality of the life of the elderly. As a result, an effective program for servicing potential visitors who are in poor health, over 70 years old, having lower level of education, living in below standard conditions, and living far from the library were suggested. Elderly women also will be the potential visitors.
The school library media specialist is the information manager of school library as well as the teacher who take charge of a study. The basic knowledge of copyright law is needed to supply lawful and safe information service to students and teaching staffs in school. In order for the school library media specialist to have a copyright knowledge, the actual proof research to analyze the copyright recognition degree of school library media specialist is necessary. The survey study measured the recognition degree against copyright of school library media specialists who participate to 2006 school library media specialist 1 class qualification annual study and training process. As a result of the question analysis, the research suggested concretely improved plans to raise the copyright recognition of school library media specialist.
Reading abilities are the key for students' problem-solving, self-directed learning and lifelong competency. Reading to learn is usually created through resources-based learning or inquiry-based learning. This study shows a integrated cross-curriculum approach as a alternative method of the reading to learn and it is completed in collaboration with classroom teachers. In this study especially, the model for reading-based information problem solving is introduced as a specific learning strategy of a integrated cross-curriculum and team-teaching.
