본 연구는 꾸물거림과 관련변인들(성실성, 자기존중감, 자기효능감, 우울)간의 관련성을 경로분석을 통해 모형검증하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 대학생을 대상으로 꾸물거림 척도, 성격 5요인 척도, 자기효능감 척도, 자기존중감 척도 그리고 우울 척도를 실시하였다. 성실성이 꾸물거림에 영향을 미치고, 꾸물거림은 자기존중감과 자기효능감을 매개로 하여 우울에 영향을 미치는 경로를 분석하였다. 결과는 성격의 5요인 중에서 성실성이 꾸물거림과 상관이 가장 높았으며, 성실성의 영향을 받는 꾸물거림은 자기존중감과 자기효능감을 통해 우울에 간접적으로 영향을 미쳤다.
This study investigated the relationships among procrastination and conscientiousness, self-esteem, self-efficacy, and depression using path analysis. Undergraduate students (N=460) completed the Aitken Procrastination Inventory, International Personality Item Pool, Self-Efficacy Scale, Self-Esteem Scale, and Beck Depression Inventory. Conscientiousness and procrastination were highly negatively related. As a result of path analysis, conscientiousness influenced procrastination and procrastination indirectly affected depression through self-esteem and self-efficacy.
