본 연구는 내현적 자기애와 진로미결정과의 관계에서 불안의 매개효과와 독립성의 조절효과를 살펴보고자 하였다. 이러한 목적을 위해 대학생 234명을 대상으로 하여 내현적 자기애 검사, 직업결정 검사, 불안 검사, 진로태도 성숙도의 독립성 검사로 구성된 설문지를 실시하였다. 연구결과, 첫째, 내현적 자기애와 진로미결정의 하위변인인 ‘우유부단’ 간의 관계에서 불안이 부분적으로 매개역할을 한다는 것을 발견하였다. 둘째, 독립성 수준에 따라 내현적 자기애와 진로미결정의 하위변인인 ‘필요성 인식 부족’과의 관계가 달라진다는 것을 발견할 수 있었다. 즉, 독립성 수준이 낮을 때는 내현적 자기애 성향이 클수록 진로에 대해 필요성을 덜 인식하지만, 독립성 수준이 높을 때는 내현적 자기애 성향이 높더라도 진로에 대한 필요성을 더 많이 인식하는 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 결과를 통하여 내현적 자기애 성향이 큰 사람들이 진로를 결정하지 못하게 되는 과정을 이해하고, 이들이 진로를 결정하는 데 있어서 독립성이 어떠한 영향을 미칠 수 있는지 확인할 수 있었다. 마지막으로 본 연구의 결과가 진로상담에 갖는 의의 및 제한점을 논의하였다.
This study examined the mediating effect of anxiety and moderating effect of independence, the subscale of career attitude maturity on the relation of covert narcissism and career indecision among 234 university students. The major results are as follows. First, anxiety mediated partially the relation between covert narcissism and ‘indecisiveness', the subscale of career indecision. Second, independence, the subscale of career attitude maturity, moderated the relation between covert narcissism and ‘the lack of recognition about necessity’, a subscale of career indecision. Based on these findings, implications on career counseling and future research were discussed.
