본 연구는 신혼기 부부의 분리-개별화와 부부친밀감의 관계에서 문화적 자기관의 매개효과를 살펴보고자 하였다. 연구를 위해 결혼한 지 5년 이내의 자녀가 없는 기혼남녀 370명을 대상으로 분리-개별화 척도, 부부친밀감 척도, 문화적 자기관 척도 설문지를 실시한 후 자료를 분석하였다. 연구 결과 첫째, 분리-개별화의 하위변인인 개별화는 부부친밀감에 유의한 정적영향을, 공생은 부부친밀감에 유의한 부적영향을 미쳤다. 둘째, 분리-개별화의 하위변인인 개별화는 독립적 자기관, 상호의존적 자기관에 모두 유의한 정적영향을 미쳤고 공생은 상호의존적 자기관에만 유의한 부적영향을 미쳤다. 셋째, 독립적 자기관은 부부친밀감에 유의미한 정적영향을 미치고 상호의존적 자기관은 부부친밀감에 유의한 영향을 미치지 못하였다. 넷째, 분리-개별화의 하위변인인 개별화가 부부친밀감에 영향을 미치는 과정에서 개별화가 부부친밀감에 직접 영향을 미침과 함께 독립적 자기관을 거쳐 부부친밀감에 영향을 미치는 간접효과가 있다는 부분매개효과가 확인되었다. 분리-개별화의 하위변인인 공생은 부부친밀감에 직접적인 영향만을 미치고 독립적 자기관, 상호의존적 자기관은 매개하지 않는 것으로 확인되었다. 이러한 연구결과를 토대로 분리-개별화의 하위변인인 개별화와 공생은 부부친밀감과 문화적 자기관에 각각 다른 영향을 미친다는 것을 확인하였고, 독립적, 상호의존적 자기관을 고루 발달시키고 부부친밀감을 형성하는 데에는 성공적인 개별화가 중요함을 확인하였다.
The purpose of the study is to examine the mediation effect of self-construal on the separation-individuation and marital intimacy of newlywed couples. Data were obtained from 370 newlyweds. The statistical analyses yielded the following results. First, individuation and symbiosis, the subfactors of separation-individuation, both had a significant influence on marital intimacy. Second, individuation significantly influenced both independent and interdependent self-construal, whereas symbiosis significantly influenced only interdependent self-construal. Third, only independent self-construal influenced marital intimacy significantly. Fourth, individuation influenced marital intimacy both directly and indirectly through the mediation of independent self-construal. Symbiosis only had a direct influence on marital intimacy, and no mediating effect was found in the relationship between symbiosis and marital intimacy.
