성인대학생의 진로결정 자기효능감 증진 프로그램 개발 및 효과

The Effectiveness of a Career-Counseling Program for Nontraditional Students

초록

본 연구의 목적은 성인대학생들(25세 이상의 대학생들)의 진로결정 자기효능감을 증진시키기 위한 진로상담 프로그램을 개발하고 그 효과를 검증하는 데 있다. 프로그램은 Bandura(1977)의 언어적 설득, 정서적 격려, 대리학습, 그리고 수행성취 개념에 상응하여, 격려, 불안감소, 역할모델 소개, 성공경험 나누기 등으로 구성되었으며, 진로 방해요인에 대한 지각을 다루는 내용으로 진로의사결정, 결단불안, 가족갈등에 관한 역기능적인 인지의 탐색과 그에 따른 효과적인 대처전략의 내용을 포함하였다. 이러한 내용으로 구성된 프로그램을 방송대에 재학 중인 성인대학생을 대상으로 워크샵의 형태로 실시한 후, Taylor와 Betz(1983)가 개발한 진로결정 자기효능감 척도(CDMSE)를 사용하여 프로그램이 진로결정 자기효능감 증진에 효과가 있는지를 검증하였다. CDMSE의 사전검사 점수를 공변인으로 하여 사후검사 점수를 변량분석한 결과, 워크샵에 참가한 실험집단의 성인대학생들은 참가하지 않은 통제집단의 성인대학생들보다 CDMSE의 총점수와 직업정보수집, 목표설정, 계획수립, 문제해결, 자기평가의 하위요인별 점수의 평균이 모두 유의미하게 높게 나타났다. 이 같은 결과를 통해 진로상담 프로그램이 성인대학생들의 진로결정 자기효능감 증진에 효과가 있음을 알 수 있으며, 이러한 연구결과는 성인대학생들의 진로결정 자기효능감이 상담적인 개입을 통해 증진될 수 있음을 보여준다고 하겠다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of a career-counseling workshop on the Career Decision Making Self-Efficacy Scale (CDMSE; Taylor & Betz, 1983) for nontraditional students (i.e., undergraduate students with age over 25). The workshop strategically incorporated components, such as encouragement, anxiety reduction, exposure to role models, and sharing of successful experiences, to parallel with Bandura's (1977) conceptions of verbal persuasion, emotional arousal, vicarious learning, and performance accomplishment, respectively. Results suggested that the workshop had a significant positive effect on the participants' level of career decision-making self-efficacy. This result provides support for the career self-efficacy theory, indicating that the career decision-making self-efficacy of nontraditional college students is changeable through counseling interventions such as the workshop utilized in the current study.
