본 연구에서는 과잉 남성성과 성적 공격성과의 관계에서 공감 및 강간통념이 완충역할을 할 것인지, 더불어 괴잉 남성성은 공감 및 강간통념을 통해 성적 공격성에 영향을 미칠 것인가를 검증해 보고자 하였다. 연구대상자는 대학에 재학중인 남자대학생 355명이다. 본 연구에서 사용된 척도는 과잉남성성척도, 공감척도, 강간통념척도, 성적공격성 척도 등이다. 연구 결과를 살펴보면 과잉남성성, 공감, 강간통념 등이 성적인 공격성과 유의미한 상관을 보였다. 또한 과잉 남성성과 성적 공격성과의 관계에서 공감이 중재변인으로 확인 된 반면, 강간통념의 중재효과는 나타나지 않았다. 즉 남성성이 높으면서 남성, 공감수준이 낮은 남성이 다른 참여자들에 비해 높은 성적공격성을 보였다. 구조방식 모형을 통해 살펴 본 매개효과 검증에서는 과잉남성성과 성적공격성의 관계에서 공감 및 강간통념이 매개 변인으로 작용하였다. 그러나 과잉 남성성에서 성적공격성으로 가는 경로가 유의하여 공감과 강간통념은 이들의 관계를 부분 매개하는 것으로 확인 되었다. 마지막으로 이러한 연구 결과를 토대로 시사점과 제한점을 논의하였다.
In this paper, the moderating and mediating effects of empathy and rape myths on the relationship between hyper masculinity and sexual aggression are examined. The group under investigation were 355 college male students. The indices examined in this study are as follows; the index of hyper masculinity, empathy, rape myths, and sexual aggression. The results suggest that hyper masculinity, empathy, and rape myths have a significantly positive relationship with sexual aggression. Among these, empathy seems have the strongest relationship with sexual aggression. Empathy was identified as a mediating variable in the relation between excess masculinity and sexual aggression, however, rape myths did not have any mediating effect. In the test of moderating effects using structural equation analysis, empathy and rape myths operated as moderate variables. However, the mediating effect was only partial because the path from excess masculinity to sexual aggression showed a significance relation. Finally, some suggestions for future research as well as some of the limitations of this study were discussed, based on the results of the experiment,
