본 연구는 2/30대 남성의 성역할갈등과 우울의 관계에서 전문적 도움추구 태도 및 지각된 사회적 지지의 역할을 알아보았다. 이를 위해 대구·경북 지역의 2/30대 남성 392명을 대상으로 한국형 남성 성역할갈등 척도, 우울 척도, 지각된 사회적 지지 척도, 전문적 도움추구 태도 척도를 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 높은 남성 성역할갈등은 높은 수준의 우울, 부정적인 전문적 도움추구 태도와 낮은 수준의 지각된 사회적 지지와 관련이 있었다. 남성 성역할갈등과 우울의 관계에서 전문적 도움추구 태도와 지각된 사회적 지지의 역할을 검증한 결과, 남성 성역할갈등은 우울에 직접적으로 영향을 줄 뿐 아니라, 지각된 사회적 지지를 매개하여서도 우울에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 높은 수준의 남성 성역할갈등은 전문적 도움추구에 대한 부정적인 태도로 이어지고, 지각된 사회적 지지에 영향을 주어 우울에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과는 남성 성역할갈등이 우울로 이어지는 과정에서 도움추구와 관련된 남성의 부정적 인식 및 지각된 사회적 지지에 개입해야 할 필요성을 시사한다.
This study examined the relationship between Male Gender Role Conflict(MGRC) and depression. and the mediating role of professional help seeking attitude and perceived social support in young men in their 20’s and 30’s. 392 men from the Daegu and Gyeongbuk area completed the Korean Male Gender Role Conflict Scale, CES-D, Social Provision Scale and the Attitude toward Professional Help Seeking Scale. The results showed that higher MGRC was associated with higher depression, negative help seeking attitude and a lower level of perceived support. Perceived social support mediated the relationship between MGRC and depression. Also, higher levels of MGRC were associated with negative professional help seeking attitudes which affected the level of social support and depression. Current findings suggest that it is necessary to intervene in men’s negative perception toward help seeking and perceived social support in order to mitigate the impact of male gender role conflict in depression.
