Preliminary Development of Korean Adolescent Ego-identity Scale

본 연구에서는 우리나라에서 지금까지 사용되어 온 자아정체감검사들을 기본으로 하여 종래의 자아정체감검사들이 갖고 있는 제한점을 보완하고 보다 다차원적이고 신뢰도 및 타당도가 높은 자아정체감검사의 개발이 시도되었다. 종래의 정체감검사를 3가지 유형(지위분류형, 구성요인형 및 발달단계형)으로 분류하여 이 유형에 해당되는 대표적인 4가지 검사들의 문항을 서울, 부산, 대구 및 광주시에 소재하고 있는 중, 고등, 대학생을 대상으로 남녀구성비율이 비슷하게 표집하여 실시한 검사결과를 요인분석하여 125개의 예비검사를 제작하고, 이를 다시 앞의 4개 도시의 각기 다른 중2년생, 고등학생 2년생 및 전학년의 대학생 3,968명을 대상으로 실시한 결과를 요인분석하여 8가지 요인을 중심으로 신뢰롭고 타당한 것으로 판정된 64개 문항을 선정하였다. 개발된 검사는 정체감의 다면적인 측면을 종합적으로 다루고 있으므로 발달단계별로 다른 양상으로 나타나는 개인의 정체감 발달을 연구하는데 기여할 것으로 기대된다. 연구결과를 유형별 자아정체감검사들간의 상관관계적 측면에서 논의한 후, 추후 연구를 위한 시사점이 제시되었다.

Abstract

This study was designed to develop a multidimensional ego-identity scales, encompassing personal, social, and occupational aspects. For this purpose, the initial item pool was generated from both theoretical and empirical approaches and the scales used in Korea were analyzed into three types: identity status type, component factor type, and identity development type. The participants were 3,968 students in middle schools, high schools, and colleges in four cities in Korea: Seoul, Pusan, Taegu, and Kwangju. The scales used in this study were multidimensional scales of four tests for each of the types for ego-identity. The scales including 125 initial items consisted of the three types. The reliability and validity of each scale were tested by factor analysis and Cronbach alpha for each was found significant. The final version of the multidimensional ego-identity scale was composed of personal, social, occupational, and religious aspects; the initial pool items were narrowed down to eight factors (or identity domains), consisting of sixty-four items. The eight factors were: initiativeness, self-receptiveness, confirmativeness for future, goal orientedness, subjectivity, intimacy, identity-moratorium, and identity confusion. Finally, the present findings were discussed within the context of each item type, and implications for future studies were suggested.
