Abstract

The dictatorial government in the period of Yushin regime (1970s) carried out various of bio-political techniques such as birth control, the new community movement, a curfew etc. to unify the people and integrate nation consciousness. So-called Park's regime was a bio-pouvior that involved people's lives and bodies into political sphere to accomplish national development and modernization rapidly. For this reason, this thesis considers specific Korean popular films in 1970s that revealed consciously and unconsciously the dynamics of bio-political technique, bodies, subjectivation and modernization of those days. Focusing on melo-drama and teenpics gained in popularity at that time, this study examines the relation of gendered bio-politics and constructing subjectivity.
