1930년대 소설에 나타난 여급(女給)고찰 : 이상의 여성관을 중심으로

이 글은 이상(李箱)의 작중에 등장하는 ‘까페 여급(女給)’이라는 근대적 직업 여성를 대상으로 이상의 여성관을 살펴본 것이다. 당시 까페의 출현과 함께 등장한 까페 여급은 근대문명을 대표하는 인물로서 다음과 같은 두 가지 특성을 가지고 있다. 첫째 개인의 자율성이 강한 ‘직업적 특수성’을 가지고 있다. 둘째 룸펜 지식인과의 동거를 통해 ‘육체와 정신이 이분화된 생활’을 하고 있다. 이들은 폐점이후 호객행위에서 벌어들인 순수익으로 동거하는 가족, 남자를 부양한다. 비록 이들이 재화 생산의 수단으로 육체는 소모하고 있을지언정, 정신은 이지(理智)를 좇아 룸펜 인텔리와 동거하면서 육체와 정신을 이분화시키는 사고 및 생활을 체현해 낸다. 이러한 여급의 특성은 이상의 작중 여급에게도 공통적으로 드러나는 시대적 특징이다. 이상은 여급 및 이에 준하는 여성을 통해 ‘사회생활 능력’과 ‘매춘부적 요소’라는 여성관을 가지게 되었는데, 이는 당시 여성의 직업 필요성과 그 한계를 드러내고 있는 적절한 지적이다.

Abstract
The purpose of this Thesis is to find Yi, Sang's viewpoint of woman with cafe-girl who enters on novel. Those days, cafe-girl who appears along with cafe' appearance is the representative of modern culture. They have two characteristics. First, they have a job that is remarkable for self-control. Second, on living with a loafer intelligentsia they divide spirit from body. They maintain their family or a loafer intelligentsia with prostitution after closing time. Although they exhaust their physic in moneymaking, spirit that is divided from body seeks for intelligence on living with a loafer intelligentsia. Cafe-girl who enters on Yi, Sang's novel also has these two characteristics, and Simultaneously they are contemporary characteristic. By analysis of Yi, Sang's novel that is entered Cafe-girl and a prostitution we can find Yi, Sang's viewpoint of woman, that they have having an ability to do social life and the factor of prostitution. These Yi, Sang's viewpoint of woman points out the need of woman' job and their difficulty at the time.
