Abstract

It is natural that feminine literature has been excluded from and denounced by modern korean literature because the logic of modern literature has formed by male dominance. In order for feminine literature takes its proper place, we should reexamine the meaning of literature itself. Such re-examination entails a discussion about the perspectives of the history of Korean literature. Korean literature has prescribed by Modernity, which is commonly viewed as the rationality of Enlightenment. However, from such a perspective, feminine literature could not always overcome the sense of <Otherness>. Therefore, it is inevitable that Modernity itself should be considered from the feminine literature. If we takes a new Modernity, we can know that feminity is the very dynamic outgrowth of Modernity. The problems of coloniality and feminity are raised in order to redefine Modernity. The coloniality of Modern Korean literature commonly has been discussed in opposition to Modernity. However, we should recognize the peculiar aspects of the situation, which is formed by the concept of coloniality as being self-identified object because Japanese coloniality differed from Western coloniality. From such a perspectives, it should be the perspectives of woman's subjects of early modern times that woman's subjects and coloniality should be discussed as subaltern, Under same relationship, we should discuss what problems are posed by sexuality, which has excluded from the logic that considered modernization as industrialization and Europeanization. If we follow the logic of male literature, which consider feminity as <the Other> of Modernity, the woman's subjects can never overcome the image of being Anti-modernity. However, we can find that feminity has served as deepening the meaning of Modernity, thereby revealing the contradictory situation of the process by prescribing the meaning of a new Modernity.
