Abstract

Due to the expanding roles of corporations, the significance of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has escalated, fostering continued efforts for organizations to integrate CSR into the context of recruitment. Additionally, demand for CSR authenticity is increasing. Damaged CSR authenticity can give rise to negative consequences, but research on the CSR authenticity is lacking, particularly within the realms of job search and recruitment. Consequently, this study aimed to investigate whether organizational attractiveness varies with CSR authenticity (high CSR authenticity, low CSR authenticity, and control conditions) through a scenario design. Additionally, the study examined the mediating effects of value congruence, as well as the moderating effect of moral identity in this relationship. Conducted among 300 undergraduate students, the results indicated that the organizational attractiveness was highest in the high CSR authenticity condition, followed by the control condition, and the lowest in the low CSR authenticity condition. However, the difference between the high CSR authenticity condition and the control condition was not statistically significant. PROCESS macro was employed to analyze the mediating model of value congruence. The results revealed that the mediating effect of value congruence was significant across all conditions. In sequence, examining the moderating effect and the moderated mediating effect of moral identity, it was found that these effects were significant in the high CSR authenticity condition in comparison to the other conditions. The findings of this study suggest the importance of considering CSR authenticity in the context of job search and recruitment and also, provides an insight into the mechanism through which CSR authenticity influences organizational attractiveness.

Abstract

This study explored the essence of psychological burnout experiences due to emotional contagion using a hermeneutic phenomenological approach. In-depth interviews were conducted on 9 participants who work in fields that are subject to emotional contagion. Data analysis was conducted by using van Manen’s methodology, insisting that the pure description of an experience can be enriched by adding interpretation. The emotional contagion experiences were identified through this process and the findings were categorized into 3 core themes, 8 essential themes, and 35 subthemes. The first core theme is “emotions in constant exchange”. This theme included two essential themes: ‘various channels of emotional contagion’ and ‘subjective states that change depending on the transmitted emotions’. The second core theme, “filtering the experience of emotional contagion” included the essential themes of ‘the characteristics susceptible to the emotions of others’, ‘attitudes of spreading negative emotions’ and ‘situations that makes one feel overwhelmed by emotions’. The final core theme, “from burnout by emotional contagion to communication” was categorized into the following essential themes: ‘burnout-inducing entangled interactions’, ‘moving toward communication and connection’ and ‘recovery after psychological burnout’. Finally, the implications and suggestions for future research were discussed by summarizing the core contents of each themes.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to validate the Reactive-Proactive Aggression Questionnaire (RPQ), a tool for measuring reactive-proactive aggression, in the context of South Korea. A thorough translation was conducted in collaboration with the original author. An exploratory factor analysis (EFA), exploratory structural equation modeling (ESEM), rating scale model (Rasch), differential item functioning (DIF), and convergent validity were performed on a sample of 510 South Korean individuals. The results revealed a two-factor structure of reactive and proactive aggression after removing one item showing dual loading. Rating scale analysis based on the Rasch model indicated the appropriateness of the 3-point Likert scale, with all items meeting fit criteria. Although the separation index and separation reliability of proactive aggression was marginally lower, the overall discrimination between participants and items was satisfactory. Examination of participant-item distribution indicated a suitable alignment between reactive aggression and participant ability levels, whereas proactive aggression exhibited slightly elevated item difficulty. Furthermore, three items were found to function differently based on gender. A moderate but statistically significant positive correlation was found between the Barratt Impulsiveness Scale-11-R (Korean version) and RPQ from the results of the convergent validity evaluation. Overall, this study employed rigorous statistical methods to validate the suitability of the RPQ for use in Korea, taking cultural nuances into account, and introduced the concepts of reactive and proactive aggression to the Korean general population.

Abstract

This study was conducted by applying Selby and Joiner (2009)’s Emotional Cascade Model to the phenomenon of non-suicidal self-injury of adolescents, focusing on the school counselor’s counseling experience. To this end, a focus group interview(FGI) was conducted with 56 counselors who had experience in counseling self-injured adolescents, and this study applied Braun and Clake’s thematic analysis(2012). As a result, 8 categories and 16 subtopics were derived: ‘negative emotional experience’, ‘maladaptive cognitive emotional dysregulation strategy’, ‘experience of emotional cascade’, ‘temporary relief of psychological pain’, ‘aggravation of the emotional cascade state’, ‘emotional pain from nonsuicidal self-injury’, ‘vicious cycle of nonsuicidal self-injury’ and ‘difficulty in controlling behavior that co-occurs with nonsuicidal self-injury’. These results are significant in expanding the understanding regarding the non-suicidal self-injury of adolescents through the perspective of school counselors who are in a position to consider the various systems surrounding adolescents in an integrated manner. Based on the research results, implications, limitations and future research were discussed.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to explore the effects of intolerance of uncertainty and experiential avoidance on relationship addiction and to investigate the mediating effect of experiential avoidance in the relationship between intolerance of uncertainty and relationship addiction among unmarried adults. For this purpose, an online survey was conducted on unmarried adults aged 20 to 29 who are currently engaged in opposite-sex romantic relationships, and a total of 302 data were used for analysis.. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 29.0 and PROCESS MACRO v4.2. The main results of this study are as follows. First, intolerance of uncertainty and experiential avoidance had significant effects on relationship addiction. Second, experiential avoidance had a significant mediating effect between intolerance of uncertainty and relationship addiction tendencies. This study identified individual psychological factors that induce relationship addiction. Based on the research results, this study suggests directions for counseling interventions to reduce relationship addiction tendencies and promote healthier relationship patterns among unmarried adults.
