한국의 왕따 현상의 개념화와 왕따 연구의 방법론적 고찰

초록

한국에서 왕따 현상이 초ㆍ중등학교에서 심각한 학교 폭력 문제로 대두되면서 학계에서도 1990년대 중반 이후부터 왕따 현상에 대한 연구들이 이어지고 있다. 그러나, 대부분의 연구들은 왕따 현상의 발생율을 파악하는 수준에 머물고 있으므로, 한국의 독특한 학교폭력의 한 유형인 왕따 현상의 체계적인 개념 정의와 다양한 연구방법을 통한 심리적 과정, 피해자, 가해자, 및 방관자의 심리적 특성, 그리고 왕따의 결과에 대한 심도 있는 연구의 필요성이 대두되고 있다. 그러므로, 본고에서 왕따의 개념화 및 발생율을 측정하는 다양한 질문지의 표준화 가능성, 왕따 관련 학생들에 관한 유형화 및 사회인지적 접근의 필요성 및 연구방법, 그리고 왕따의 장기적 결과에 관한 가능한 종단적 연구방법 등을 제시해 봄으로써, 한국의 왕따 현상 연구의 방법론적인 개선의 방향을 논의하였다.

Abstract

As 'Wangtta', a form of school violence became one of the most serious educational problem in Korean schools since 1995, series of reseaches have been published. However, most of the researches were focused on the occurrence of Wangtta even without a consistent definition of the phenomenon among researchers. The uniqueness of Wangtta in Korea was considered in comparison with foreign school bullying. Also, the researches on the occurences of Wangtta provide limited information since the methods of the questionnaire were not validated. The validity and improvement of questioning the Wangtta occurrence was discussed and the social cognitive approach to the Wangtta procedure, and the research method for longitudinal study of the consequences of it were proposed.
