기질과 성격이 우울에 미치는 영향- 여대생을 중심으로 -

초록
본 연구는 기질 및 성격 특성과 우울간 관계 양상을 살펴보고자 하였으며, 특히 기질이 우울에 미치는 영향에 대한 성격의 매개효과를 검증하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 여대생 122명을 대상으로 JTCI와 MMPI를 실시하였으며, 기질의 4가지 차원인 자극추구, 위험회피, 사회적 민감성, 인내력, 그리고 성격의 3가지 차원인 자율성, 연대감, 자기초월 및 우울간의 상관, 회귀분석을 살펴보았다. 그 결과 우울과 관련이 높은 변인은 자극추구, 위험회피, 사회적 민감성, 인내력, 자율성, 자기초월로 나타났다. 매개효과 검증에서 위험회피는 우울로 향하는 직접효과와 간접효과 모두 유의미하게 나타났으나 자극추구는 매개효과가 나타나지 않았다. 본 연구 결과 대학생의 높은 위험회피 성향은 우울에 대한 취약요인으로 확인되었으며, 기질은 자율성과 같은 성격 차원의 성숙에 따라 변화될 수 있는 것으로 나타났다. 끝으로 본 연구의 시사점, 제한점, 향후 연구방향을 논의하였다.

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships between temperament character and depression, and the mediating effects of character on depression. 122 female college students were administered JTCI and MMPI. The correlation and regression among the subfactors of temperament such as novelty seeking, harm avoidance, reward dependence, and persistence, the three dimensions of character such as self-directedness, cooperativeness and self-transcendence and depression scale of MMPI were calculated. The results indicated that novelty seeking, harm avoidance, reward dependence, persistence, self-directedness and self-transcendence were important variables associated with depression. The results of analysis revealed that harm avoidance had both direct effects and indirect effects mediated by self-directedness on depression. The findings of this study suggests that high harm avoidance and low self-directedness are risk factors for depression, and the influences of temperament on depression may partially depend on the maturity of character in college students. Finally, the limitation and further suggestions for the future study were discussed.
